Letting Go of Home - 1107 Words
The East has a preoccupation with losing their home and the West is on a quest to recover it. However, the West can accept that the home they seek may not exist anymore and imagine a future without it whereas the East can see no acceptable alternative. We can see this when we compare Salman Rushdieââ¬â¢s At The Auction of the Ruby Slippers (ATARS) to his The Prophetââ¬â¢s Hair. The West is trying to reclaim the home they have lost and the East is trying to stop the home they have from slipping away. Both stories contain portraits of a better past. However, ATARS is referencing the past of the West, whereas The Prophetââ¬â¢s Hair is referencing the present of the East. ATARS is related to the reader by a single character, as it happens, in theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The Gale the narrator loves is not the real Gale, who he recently saw at the bar, but his idea of what their home would be if they had stayed together. He realizes this. In The Prophetââ¬â¢s Hair, the instinct of the family is to piece their home back together, not to move away from the destructive force of Hashim and The Prophetââ¬â¢s Hair. An alternative to family is never considered because the East cannot see a future without home. This seems like a trite observation, because it is likely that there is a reason they never considered leaving - a cultural reason. Perhaps it was unthinkable in their society for a family to desert its male leader, but this is exactly the point. They never consider an alternative because of the context of the culture. The fact that the narrator of ATARS can see that his home may no longer exist, gives him the perspective to see an alternative, that the East cannot. The reason that the East cannot see the alternatives to its home that the West can is because that alternative is based on two ideas central to Western culture: freedom and the free market. ATARS ends with the narrator feeling a ââ¬Å"reduction in weightâ⬠, ââ¬Å"a floatingâ⬠(102). The final passage is full of phrases which connote lightness: ââ¬Å"weightlessnessâ⬠, ââ¬Å"float awayâ⬠and letting go: ââ¬Å"lie down [...] to restâ⬠(102). On the other hand there is Maureen, a wealthy light skinned girl who is adored by everyone, but is sometimes snobby and mean. This shows how beauty is related to wealth, in the sense that people who are lighter skinned are more likely to get better jobs and live more prosperous lives, whereas darker skinned people are not given similar opportunities for a better life. Relevant Theories associated with case studies Case1: Walmart: The Main Street Merchant of Doom In the case of Walmart, there were several ethical issues which were required to be addressed, the company was able to meet them with good initiatives but there are few theories which can still be relevant for Walmart to have more ethical approach towards its business operations. The theory is related to ethical rights and the ethical virtue. These theories can help the company in achieving ethical sustainability as by providing the employees with their ethical rights there will be elimination of issues related to employees and unethical working. As per the virtue theory there is a need that company must adopt the path of honesty and reliability in operating as by adopting these measures there will be increased customer base and retention rate of the employees. Case2: McEthics in Europe and Asia: should McDonalss extend its response to ethical criticism in Europe? In the case of McDonalds, there were several ethical issues which were required to be addressed; the company was able to meet them with good initiatives. There is required an ethical theory i.e. Kantian theory as per which the company must perform things for the right reasons as well as the organization must be inspired by good will. In this factor somewhere McDonalds does not completely fulfill all ethical behaviors as to buy the products its an individual decision as people know the nutritional as well as unhealthy food substances in the products. But as per this theory the company should not attract the kids by giving them a greed of toys which becomes the reason for parents to make the children buy the mini meals. Earlier McDonalds use this strategy in a good faith that is to bring fun for children but in the later time frame it became the face of the company. As well as the company can achieve more ethicality in its operations and working by replacing its few food articles in ad dition with the introduction of health food items. So that individuals who do not initiate to buy those introduced goods they are forced to have the replaced products. And thus more healthy option can be presented by the company. Case3:The Betaseron Decision In the case of Betaseron, there is extreme need of ethical decisions as the approaches taken by the manufacturer and suppliers are not so appropriate. The other ethical theories can be in place to resolve the ethical dilemma such as the need and the requirement based approach. The more critical case must be analyzed through the medical history of the patients or directly the medicines must be supplied to the hospitals so that the more severe cases can be handled at priority. For reducing the prices the Government must provide subsidies to the company so that more number if people can be benefitted with the medicine. Compare and Contrast the 3 Case Studies based on ethical issues and theories, justify your analysis: In this part there is a comparison present between the case studies and the theories. This part depicts that how ethical the companies are working as compared with the theories and what other factors have their significant role in the decision making. Case1: Walmart: The Main Street Merchant of Doom After the comparison of the theories and the case study it has been analyzed that Walmart has proven to be successful in incorporating the ethical practices as the company offers number of benefits to the communities and to the employees which help the workers to have a better working place. As per the ethical theory of virtue, the company does not stand at a good position as there has been identified several cases where the company has found to be incorporating unethical and unlawful practices to develop its business. And this states that there is high need that the company works on the ethical virtues so that there can be no hidden and dishonest working operations which the company requires to hide from the employees, customers, government and other stakeholders. Case2: McEthics in Europe and Asia: should McDonalss extend its response to ethical criticism in Europe? After the comparison of the ethical theories and the case study it has been analyzed that McDonalds has adopted great initiatives and it can increase its ethical working just by improving and enhancing the approaches. There is a great impact over the health of the youths and the children and this create huge negative implications for the company as parents are very much concerned with the increase unhealthy food habits of their kids and the outcomes such as obesity, diabetes, increased cholesterol etc. if the company will try to reduce the fast food supplies and increase more healthy products and goods in their menu so that the customers have a less option of the fast food and a more choices in the healthy products and thus they are more emphasized to have healthy in-takes. Case3: The Betaseron Decision After the comparison of the theories and the case study it has been analyzed that the approaches adopted by the company is not effective as the computer lottery is not an adequate way to provide a medicine which can be a life saver for few people. Instead of such irrelevant approaches the company must try to increase its manufacturing unit and supplies so that the increased demands could be met and there remain no deficiency of the medicines. The prices quoted for the medicine is also very much high which creates a difference between the buyers and the people who are in much need are unable to buy because of the high prices. Thus in comparison it is clear that there are still much more initiatives left for the company to adopt.

For the students, an OJT or internship program provides opportunities togoà throughà theà actualà methodologiesà ofà aà specificà jobà usingà theà realà tools, equipments and documents. In effect, the workplace becomes a development venue for a student trainee to learn more about his chosen field and practice what he has learn from academy. On theà other hand, an effective OJT program also benefits the companies who accept trainees. First OJT or intern provides additional manpower for lesser labor cost than a regular employee. Most of them are all eager to learn the ropes so chances are high that they will cooperate. Employers can use this internship strategy as a method in recruiting new employees. Since the trainer or the supervisor can follow the traineesââ¬â¢ progress, he can gauge based on performance, behavior and attitude if the trainee will make a good recruit after the completion of his internship. OJTââ¬â¢s can bring fresh ideasà into the organization. Analyzing and Comparing the Mise-en-scene of David O'Russel's Three Essay
Analyzing and Comparing the Mise-en-scene of David O'Russel's Three Kings to Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan - Essay Example David Oââ¬â¢Russell knew the power of setting a story during the time of war, thus he came up with the most finely tuned, eccentrically conventional film Three Kings. Both Saving Private Ryan and Three Kings have effectively shown war in a resolute way that serves similar aims but achieves this in different manners. Oââ¬â¢Russellââ¬â¢s Three Kings clearly uses the narrative device of an ethical story to relate the Gulf Warââ¬â¢s moral lessons as well as to rewrite Americaââ¬â¢s ethical position over the people of Iraq through revising what was viewed as a moral defeat. The film tells a narrative of a gang of four U.S fighters on operations at the Gulf at the end of the dispute as they find out a map to one of the secrete bunkers of Saddam Hussein, containing huge amounts of Kuwait gold, and plan to steal it for their own gains. On the other hand, Steven Spielberg has been criticized for failing to employ narrative action basing on the moral and national purpose in his film Saving Private Ryan. This criticism can be understood in the perspective of the constraints placed on modern cinematic stories of war by the Vietnam syndrome (Andersen 193). Even though Three Kings is developed around a definitely American-based fictional plot, this film typically aims to bring in issues concerning Iraq and addresses it to a certain extent as the film develops. On the other hand, Saving Private Ryan tries to reillusion American national distinctiveness in the wake of Vietnam by presenting a more distant past. The specific ethical justification for starting war and admitting its sacrifices and horrors is found in ethical campaigns against the Nazi plot of Holocaust. Through stitching the Holocaust into the movie, the film takes part in ââ¬ËAmericanizationââ¬â¢ of a memory of Holocaust, avoids Vietnam as a source of distressing memory, produces a redemptive national uniqueness, and constructs a moral usable past in the present. In both films, the use of ima gery has been clearly utilized. Saving Private Ryan starts and ends with a shot of a flag that is faded and desaturated of color. The red colors have turned to pink, white to gray, and the blue colors have lost their color completely. The flag is transparent, moving forth and back in the centre of a cool dusk as the sunlight penetrates straight through it. The reason behind this is that the flag symbolizes a lost time and a fading generation. The American elites who fought to keep such banners were gone and the film was developed for their sake. Such features show that Saving Private Ryan may be the greatest film ever produced about horror and heroism in war situations. It shows how heroic conduct can be unusually difficult, impulsive, lucky, instinctive, and deliberate, all at once. In contrast, Three Kings had mixed receptions on its release. In general, reviews involved praise for technical elements of the film as well as criticism of the way the Gulf War was presented. In the Wa shington Post, Stephen Hunter claimed the style of the film had the feeling second to none, as it re-imagines the past war movie post-modernly. He further concludes that the film was ideologically unremarkable. Similarly, Three Kings uses some sort of imagery in the storyline. At the start of the scene, a discussion goes on between Major Gates and his Staff Sergeant, standing near a helicopter. The image of a helicopter was used as an icon in this film, though not frequently used outside the scene (Andersen 194). At the beginning, when a shot cuts through, it is obvious that the positioning of the characters is to enable the blade to remain at the heart of the screen, right between the

The report should contain an evaluation of the most popular resources Assignment
The report should contain an evaluation of the most popular resources weighing the positives and negatives (critically analyse) - Assignment Example In this regard, the literature suggests that there are various options available for small businesses. Sources of Finance Available to Small Businesses The most important concern of an investor or a small business owner, like Thunder Egg, is the sources from where finance can be raised to satiate financing needs of the business. Among various options available for small business entrepreneurs, crowd funding, business angels, bank loans, government initiatives and private investments are considered as amongst the most preferred ones by them. Whether the business is small, medium or a large multinational corporation, the need for securing sufficient finances holds significant importance for the entrepreneur, which in turn determines the success of planned strategies and business plan (Rodriguez, 2003; Moles et al., 2011; Baker & Martin, 2011). The common sources of finance identified earlier have been discussed as follows: Crowd Funding It is often witnessed that small and medium enter prises rely on unconventional means of obtaining finance in most of the times. The conventional means can be considered as venture capital and/or obtaining loans from financial institutions (Lambert & Schwienbacher, 2010; Abdulsaleh & Worthington, 201

Electrical Engineering Essay Example for Free
Electrical Engineering Essay Mr Rowley wanted a switch board for his new hotel, the Medina Palms in Watamu. It needed to handle enough power for lights, heat and air conditioning in all 50 separate villas, the poolââ¬â¢s filtration system, security cameras, and the hotelââ¬â¢s kitchens and bars: drawing approximately 1000kVA from the national grid and directing it through hundreds of individual switches and control units built into one central console. I picked up my pencil- this was not an electrical engineering exam at school: instead of lounging at the beach with my friends, I had chosen to spend my summer at Specialised Power Systems (ââ¬Å"SPSâ⬠), designing and building Mr. Rowleysââ¬Ës switchboard. As the engineers and I gathered around and started to draft designs for the switchboard, we quickly recognised several key issues. Mr Rowley wanted the switchboard to have power capacitors to increase general efficiency, and the capability to work coherently with generators and invertors to account for the Kenyan gridââ¬â¢s frequent blackouts and power surges. Both capabilities are extremely important in Africa, not only for luxury hotels but also for the health of national infrastructure. By working on Mr. Rowleyââ¬â¢s luxury hotel, I could learn to implement the technical knowledge from study into real-world projects, such as expanding and improving the Kenyan national grid and bringing cost-efficient generators to rural areas. We set to work. Mr. Rowleyââ¬â¢s first requirement for his switchboard was to have a power-factor capacitor bank, which allowed me to explore in depth a component I first studied through my A-levels physics classes, and one that is crucial to energy efficiency and modern electrical systems. Essentially, capacitors are used to store electrical charge. Mr. Rowleyââ¬â¢s requirement meant that his system, which normally drew 1000kVA from the grid, would have to be able to utilise 100kVA in order to account for the extra power occasionally needed to start water pumps, electric lights, electronics and emergency equipment. Yet an additional multiplier, called the diverse factor (generally calculated to be 80%), is added to the equation to account for the fact that not every piece of equipment is required to turn on at once. We took the textbook equation to determine capacitor requirements: KW = cosÃ⢠X kVA cosÃ⢠=0.9 minimum requirement And calculated the Medina Palmââ¬â¢s specific capacitor requirements: KW = 0.8 X 500 = 400kVAr kVAr =1000kVA X 0.5 X 0.8 In order to build a system capable of handling 400kVAR, we determined that a bank of 8 connected 50kVAr power capacitors would be the best solution as a automatic unit. For a generator capability we fitted the control panels with Tem Transfer Relays, devices that work in conjunction with Auto-Start-enabled generators to automatically supply power to the system in case of a power failure. By working with the generators at the Medina Palms, I learned skills that are critical to the infrastructure of Kenya. For example, only 30% of Kenya receives electricity from the national grids, and the grids are unreliable and confined to major cities. Generators can bring power and all its benefits to the rest of Kenya, and projects like the Medina Palms bring the technical skills and economies of scale that can make generator power accessible to the wider population. I hope to leverage my previous study of A-level physics, experience with SPS, and future degree in Engineering to bring such modern, affordable electrical capabilities to Kenya.

Metabical: Positioning and Communications Strategy for a New Weight Loss Drug Essay
1. What is the decision-making process for Metabical? Who is involved? Metabical needs to decide whom to sell and what means to use in order to reach this group successfully. This decision has to be taken by Printup and her marketing team. The target market should be identified; first of all, the segmentation of the market needs to be done in order to analyze which segment of the market would be more attracted by this product. Besides surveyed people, physicians play a very important role. 2. How should Printup think about the segmentation of potential Metabical consumers? Who is the optimal target consumer? Printup should take into consideration the different goals individuals have towards losing weight, since not everyone have the same reason to lose weight, some are moved by the health risk and others just to look good. Furthermore, the willingness and ability to pay for the product should be considered to identify the optimal target market. After the data was studied, the optimal target consumer should be overweight women (25 to 30), ages 35 to 65, who are college educated since this group takes care more about their health and visit the doctor with frequency. 3. How should CSP identify and employ the differential advantages that Metabical offers to position itself in the marketplace? Since Metabical will be proven to have better results than any other product in the market along with less dangerous side effects, it will be easier to be differentiated from its competitors. It needs to be positioned as a quality product, backed up by the FDA. Then it would be perceived as a luxury type of product that will help individuals who struggle to lose weight to feel and look better. For a successful communication strategy, CSP has to focus on the individual and the physician, for the first group, a celebrity spokesperson should be used since they have power over the audience for being known and trusted. Furthermore, the message should highlight the importance of being healthy and having a better life.

Essay from ThePensters Writing Contest Medalist #1
Nobody liked Julia Simmons, and nobody knew why. As far as I knew, she had never done anything bad. Instead, I believe it was her presence that annoyed the students at Russell Secondary. Julia was like a small gnat; she never bit anyone, but constantly annoyed with her buzzing. At seventeen, she was a scrawny five foot one. Her wiry brown hair had a life of its own, and her second hand clothes left a trail of gossip. The most annoying thing, however, was Juliaââ¬â¢s small black notebook. She carried it everywhere. And whenever Julia had a spare moment, she wrote inside it diligently. My friends and I always wondered what she put in there. One day, I tried to read it, just to satisfy my curiosity. At lunch, I sprinted past and snatched the book as she took a bit of her tuna sandwich. Unfortunately, the lunch monitor snatched it back before I could get a good look at the first page. All I can remember are the neat, white letters on the front: Julia Simmons Penster After lunch, my friends and I talked it over. None of us had the faintest idea of what a Penster was. In the end, we decided that ââ¬ËPensterââ¬â¢ was synonymous with ââ¬Ëwitch,ââ¬â¢ and that Julia used the notebook to carry the recipes for potions. And all of a sudden, we had a reason to pick on Julia Simmons. She was casting spells behind our backs, so we had to defend ourselves. Whenever something went wrong, it was now always Juliaââ¬â¢s fault. If Patrick MacDonnell contracted a hideous case of acne, it meant Julia had slipped potions into his coffee. If Lindsay Johnson broke her ankle, it meant Julia had sung to the moon the night before. The stories only got worse. Sadly, I was at fault for most of them, though I regret everything now. Eventually, the stories got so bad that Julia had to switch schools. None of us ever saw that black notebook again. It has been fifteen years since high school, and I currently work as a journalist for the New York Times. Though the job is amazing, it was the interview that impacted me the most. That day, I was understandably nervous, but it was completed without any major mishaps. After the interview, I was seated next to an attractive young lady. I am not sure whether it was post-interview adrenaline, or her wavy hair, but I decided to ask her out. ââ¬Å"Man that was intense. You want to go grab a coffee and wind down? Iââ¬â¢m Mark, by the way.â⬠I extended my hand for her to shake, but she didnââ¬â¢t take it. ââ¬Å"Arenââ¬â¢t you worried Iââ¬â¢ll slip something toxic into your drink?â⬠she replied sarcastically. ââ¬Å"Julia?â⬠ââ¬Å"Uh-huh. Not so witch-like anymore, am I? For the record, the reason I switched schools was because I attempted suicide.â⬠She laughed dryly, ââ¬Å"I always wanted to tell you that.â⬠ââ¬Å"Julia, I am so sorry. I never realized ââ¬â ââ¬Å" ââ¬Å"But thatââ¬â¢s just it, isnââ¬â¢t it? You never realize until itââ¬â¢s too late!â⬠She took a shaky breath, ââ¬Å"Do you get it Mark? Words hurt.â⬠ââ¬Å"Julia, you might never forgive me, and I wouldnââ¬â¢t blame you. But before you leave, tell me what a Penster is, and set something right.â⬠She sighed and looked up. ââ¬Å"A Penster is a person who writes about the everyday. People only write about the big things, but the small things are just as important. It seems the background is often forgotten because everyone passes it by. But the ignored world is beautiful. I have always wanted to record it and help people realize the beauty, because sometimes, small things are all you have.â⬠We both became silent after that. Then, I realized that the world desperately needs people like Julia. We need people to help us appreciate beauty, because only when we appreciate what we have can we be truly happy.

Essay on The Golden Rule in Kant and Mills Ethical Theories
Ethics refers to what people consider good or bad and right or wrong. It is a theory dealing with values that relate to human behaviour; with respect to their actions and purpose. The two most important philosophers that deal with ethics are Immanuel Kant and John Stuart Mill. Kantââ¬â¢s ethical theory is Kantianism or deontological ethics. Millââ¬â¢s ethical theory is utilitarianism. Both philosophersââ¬â¢ theories have many differences; Kantââ¬â¢s theory deals with conduct, seeking reason for good action in duty. Millââ¬â¢s theory deals with consequences and maximizing human happiness. However both Kant and Millââ¬â¢s ethics relate to the important biblical principal of the Golden Rule. What makes actions right? That one is not to act in a way in which one would not be willing to allow others to act, for example expecting others not to lie, then one is required to do the same. Kantââ¬â¢s second formula: ââ¬Å"The Formula of Humanity as End in Itself: ââ¬Å"So act that you use humanity, whether in your own person or that of another, always at the same time as an end, never as a meansââ¬â¢ [Groundworks 4:429; cf. 4:436].â⬠(Wood, A.W. 2005, p.135) In other words this formula means that ââ¬Å"Human beings have absolute worth, and every maxim we adopt should lead only to actions that always treat humanity, whether ourselves or others, as ends in themselves, and never simply as means to achieving our own ends.â⬠(Mills Daniel, D., Mills Daniel. Define the term friend confident What did Alfred Adler say about the human relationships? Describe the relationship between clients speech and his reaction to a situation Describe the relationship between clients speech and his reaction to a situation Why should you barrage your client with feedback? How can you encourage your client to make changes using the mantra The fastest way to change how you feel is to change the way you act? Answers: What is meant by a limb of uncertainty and chaos? The term a limb of uncertainty and chaos is referred to the initial problem faced by the therapist in helping an individual or a family who is in a verge of mental collapse, to cross the bridge form the old to the new in the period of disorientation and disintegration (Adlerian.us, 2015). However families who have already reached the lowest level of anxiety, depression, struggle and pressures of dysfunctional behavior should be ready to get back as their pain have reached the uppermost level that they have nowhere to go. What do we mean when we say a client has a low bottom? A low bottom refers o individuals who are devastatingly addicts and those who have lost all their things including home, family, cars, jobs, relationships. The High Bottom individuals are on the other hand is addicts who have not lost their things yet but they have met with some incidents in their lives which have served as a warning that they might lose everything if they continue having alcohol or drugs. In other words some serious consequences would not let them neglect the fact that they are in some serious conditions and have to change their way of life. If the therapist talks to the recovering addicts they would find an interesting mix of low bottoms and high bottoms. The low bottoms have to severely fall apart before they finally decide to get back on the right track. Many such people become demoralized and they sense that they have nowhere to go and they eventually become sick and depressed and finally they try to re think about their life. they just need a little push toward finding themselves again(https://www.apa.org, 2015) . Give an example of how subtle changes in words or tone can profoundly alter what the client hears? This has been proved in therapy that subtle changes in words or tones can alter the way client hears what is said. Like for example if a therapist ask a question such as the clients voice sounds very sad when he talks about his wife rather than I feel that your wife does not love you then it would allow the client to wonder about what the therapist really mean by the statement (Ijh.cgpublisher.com, 2015). Thus using empathy in your tone works wonder for the clients and t can change his entire thinking process and intuition. What do recent psychological theories of emotion assume? Ans. The new and recent psychological theories of emotion assume that the way a person shall interpret and assume an emotional situation would shape his emotional reactions. Because a persons emotions are physical and mental realities, the way they judge a situation is actually an intrinsic part of the emotion itself. As emotions are perceptual in nature, a person is actually exploring their deepest thoughts and convictions when they are goin through their deepest feelings(Marc and Angel Hack Life, 2015). Define the term friend confident The term friend-confidant is a term which is used to describe the therapist within the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client where the individual suffering from depression or anxiety can open up or expose his feelings, his thoughts, his fears to the therapist without bothering whether he will also become emotionally weak after hearing his story and would cry or become excited (Myers, 2004). The relation that is shared by the client and the therapist is that which is based on mutual trust and belief which once the family recovers in transferred to one of the family members or a trusted close friend who becomes the friend-confidant after the therapist. What did Alfred Adler say about the human relationships? Ans. According to Alfred Adler a warm human relationship can give people the courage to face and understand their mistakes .Alfred Adlers approach is called individual psychology as he takes a holistic view of individuals. It insisted that a whole person have lots of problems like family, social, biological issues, psychological attitudes and community ties. In his 1931 book he wrote that the cause of success or failure cannot be any particular experience in human lives (Psych Central.com, 2015). He said that a person understands himself in respect to the situations that he has faced in his lifetime. Experiences alone do not shape their destiny but people become self determined by the meaning that they give to those experiences. He also deeply appreciate the role played by religion in giving hope to his depressed patients .he once wrote that the idea of God has elevated the concept of humanity. Describe the relationship between clients speech and his reaction to a situation Ans. A client may express his feelings to the therapist but not acknowledge the fact that he is sad or depressed..In such a situation, the therapist should not care about his action and should show explicit empathy to the client. The therapist should cater to the inner beauty and positiveness of the client rather than his fears and anxiety. The client has to believe first that he is well in order to act well. Acting well leads to feeling well (Dbsalliance.org, 2015). Describe what happens during the process of verbalization. Ans. The process of verbalization includes helping the challenged readers develop the sensory cognitive function of an imagery concept. Unlike both comprehension and reading program concept imagery applies to the development of difficult thinking skills, comprehension and expression of both written and oral language. Verbalization applies to the students of v/v who goes through a series of steps and finally integrates imagery with their comprehension learning skills and critical thinking ('The healing process', 2014). It is possible under intense instruction for students and adults t make comprehension in just few weeks after giving years to reading. Verbalization is usually learnt by children through the process of verbal talking by their parents. Verbalization of a therapist has immense impact on the mindset of their patients who learn to read and talk efficiently after the sessions with their therapist. They learn to say it out loud and communicate all their problems to their love d and close ones when they once go through the process of verbalization by their therapist. Why should you barrage your client with feedback? Ans. It is overtly important for a therapist to barrage his clients because through that process of criticism he can really make him understand where he is going wrong. It is very important for a person who is in the verge of an emotional turmoil to find the right counselor for help. After that if a client keeps reiterating his problems except of everything that his therapist has done for him to reduce his agony, the therapist has to recognize that all his helps have become in vain for his client. The client can say that in spite of everything the therapist has done he has not being able to grasp the knowledge what he has been trying to tell him , so, in that case the therapist before providing feed back to him should make sure he has portrayed the view as vividly as possible. Good therapy is all about helping the client to feel good about himself. it is important for a therapist to give feed back to the clients so that the client can make healthy decisions about his life so that he can move from a poor weak emotional state of mind to a healthy state of mind and also to remove sadness, anxiety frustration, anger and cover them up with peace and tranquility. The client should also provide feedback to his therapist by saying what had worked for him so far and which are the aspects which have been helpful for him. A good therapist will always be eager to welcome such feedbacks from the clients end and it will help to deal with further issues that might crop up in the process(Vision.org, 2015). How can you encourage your client to make changes using the mantra The fastest way to change how you feel is to change the way you act? Ans. If the client has been going through weird feelings or maybe he is going through a phase of disbelief that maybe he wont ever get out of this mess, the therapist can encourage him with the mantra. The way to feel better is to try hard and harder the way you act. The first thing that I have to make my client understand is that there is nothing impossible in this world and if he tries real hard then he will be able to change the way he thinks by the way he acts. The mantra is positive frame of mind, and medicines should also help in healing but medicines alone cannot make a client feel better as he have to keep on trying to think positively and also be happy on every possible way. He should go out with friends and confide everything to his therapist to make things easier for himself. In this way I can encourage my client to make changes by using this very simple but very powerful mantra. References: Adlerian.us,. (2015). Thales free essay sample
Thales In Brian Magees Story of Philosophy he composed that Thales, the pre Socratic Greek philospher of Miletus and founder of Milesian school, taught that everything in nature is composed of one basic matter. Thales presumed that water the was the fundamental building block of all things and the Earth floated on water. In Joseph Carters lecture he states that Thales concluded that everything seem to need water,if not directly then indirectly,so water was the source of all things(Phil 101-501 Delgado Community College Fall 2011). It was thought by Thales that the Earth must be supported by water, since all lands are surrounded by water. He figured that all living things need a huge and constant intake of water to go on living. There are numerous facts that seem to back up Thales theories. The human body is made up of 60 percent water( Story of Philosphy pg 13). We will write a custom essay sample on Thales or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page The Earth is also made up of 71 percent water to surface area. Water at very high temperatures become air and at very low temperatures become rock( Story of Philosophy pg 13). Magee explained that Thales also observed and studied the world ,using direct obversation and reason to guide him on his quest for knowledge. He charted the stars, moon, and planets as well as using geometry and logical sequences to measure shadow lengths as a ratio of distances. In conclussion, Thales theory that all things being water, comes from water, and will return to water,in that time frame seemed believable. These thougths were logical only because it couldnt be proven otherwise in that time frame. We now know that all material objects are reducible to energy and completely disproves Thales theory. Thales was one of the first philosphers and his therioes opened the doorway for other great thinkers to concede his thoughts and go further with their pursuit of wisdom. ACT Reading vs SAT Reading Which Is Easier
ACT Reading vs SAT Reading Which Is Easier SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips Which is the harder section, ACT Reading or SAT Reading? We will break down the differences between SAT and ACT Reading to help you decide which section is harder for you. You might be surprised which one is easier! Major Differences Between SAT Reading and ACT Reading In this section, I'll break down the most critical differences between SAT Reading and ACT Reading. One test is not inherently easier than the other - it all depends on your skills. Keep your own strengths and weaknesses in mind as you read through the following sections. #1: Breaking Down Long Passages The ACT doesnââ¬â¢t always give line numbers in the questions. For what we call ââ¬Å"little picture, find the detailâ⬠questions, you have to skim the whole reading passage to find the answer, whereas SAT always gives line numbers. See an ACT example below: Via ACT's Preparing for the ACT guide. For this question, you have to sift through the passage to find the one line that mentions this very particular detail. If you don't have a good memory for small details, this can take time. In contrast, you can approach the SAT Critical Reading section by reading the questions first and then going back to parts of the passage using the line numbers. For the ACT, you will have to at least skim the entire passage, even if you read the questions first. Our advice? If you have a good memory for longer passages and small details, you will have an advantage on the ACT. If you are good at picking information out of a passage, you might do better on the SAT. #2: Timing Timing is a bigger challenge on the ACT, as the ACT asks more questions per minute.SAT Reading has 52 questions in 65 minutes, giving you 75 seconds per question. On the other hand, ACT Reading has 40 questions in 35 minutes, which gives you just 52 seconds per question. This may not seem like a major difference, but all those extra seconds really add up when you're struggling to answer all the questions in a section before time is called. Keep on your eyes on your watch! Our advice? If pacing and answer questions quickly is a problem for you, you may find the time constraints of the SAT Reading section more manageable. #3: Evidence-Support Questions Are you good at pinpointing specific areas in texts that support your answers to questions? If so, the SAT may be a better fit for you. Evidence-support questions are a big part of SAT Reading but don't appear on ACT Reading. These questions build off of the questions that come before them and ask you to cite specific lines or paragraphs as evidence for your answer to a previous question. Hereââ¬â¢s an example of an evidence-support question (with the question to which it's referring): As you can see, these questions can be challenging because theyrequire higher-level thinking and strong reasoning skills. If you're stuck on the first question, you likely won't get the second one right either. Our advice? If you struggle with interconnected questions or having concrete reasons for selecting a certain answer, you may find the ACT easier since it's Reading section doesn't include these types of questions. So Which Test Should You Take? The best way to decide which reading section youââ¬â¢ll do best on is to take real practice tests. Score yourself, and find out which test you score higher on based on percentiles. Also, based on those practice tests, figure out your weaknesses. Are you struggling on SATââ¬â¢s evidence-based questions? Then the ACT might be a better choice for you. Are you struggling with finishing the ACT Reading section in time? Then maybe the SAT will be a better fit for you. Another strategy is to think about which test you like more. Sure, a test is a test, but youââ¬â¢ll probably find you enjoy one more than the other, and you may study more effectively for the test you like better. Finally, think about the other sections if you can't decide. For example, you might take a practice test and figure out you are slightly better at ACT Reading. But if ACT Math is really hard for you, it could cancel out the benefits of being better at ACT Reading. Whatââ¬â¢s Next? Want a comprehensive guide to whether the ACT or SAT is easier?
